FAMILY BACKGROUND

Hi, I am Preti Gurung from Kohima,Nagaland,My family consists of 4 members, my mother, One elder Brother and sister.My father expired in 2016 and my mother is working as support staff in an office on contractual basis. Both my sister and brother are still studying.

JOURNEY TO SUCCESS

After passing out my matriculation I was looking for a job to help my mother and I came to know about skill training course at Maram, Senapati through my cousin who got trained in Maram. He advised me to join the course. Without wasting my time, I went to Maram to enroll myself in F&B Service course. On completion of my course I got placement in RagajiriHopsital as steward in Hospital cafeteria.During the training, I learnt lots of new skillsand improved my personality. The course was helpful and as I got placement support too.

On the job, I am happy because I am able to learn, earn and support my family with my salary. Though, there was Lockdown everywhere but I was busy in my duties and following all the safety precautions, as my responsibility is to serve my guests with care.I am proud to say that because of this training and placement; I am able to help my mother who managed our family with her little income. Financial burden of my family has lessened as I am supporting my family every month with my salary.

PMKVY has helped many youths like me to get trained, learn a skill to get a better sustainable livelihood opportunity without depending on others.
